Alexander Aryee – Vice President | Chief Policy Analyst

Alexander Aryee is the Vice President and the Chief  Policy Analyst at Policy Initiative for Economic Development. He provides high-quality, objective analysis and advice on government policy issues, as well as reviews all available information, and recommends implementation options for both new and existing policies. Prior to his current position, he was the organization’s IT Director, where he oversaw all aspects of technology development for PIED.

He was the Group General Manager of the IAM Royale Group, a conglomerate comprised of five subsidiary companies in various industries (Media, Real Estate, Hotel, Distribution & Retail). As a C-level executive, he led the team in the growth of the businesses, which resulted in the receipt of various awards and recognitions.

Prior to that, he was Accounts Manager at XDSData Ghana LTD, Ghana’s first credit reference bureau regulated by the Bank of Ghana, where he managed high-value clients’ accounts and assisted in the restructuring of various companies’ credit departments. He also worked as a technical advisor on credit referencing for the design and rollout of mobile lending products for various financial institutions.

As an ardent supporter of entrepreneurship, he co-founded Weaverbird Technologies Limited (Weavertech), an IT firm that provides first-rate services in the areas of IT Consultancy, Cyber Security, Web Application Development, Software Development, Bulk SMS, Digital Marketing, and IT Training. He is a founding director and the Chief Operating Officer of the company (COO).

Alex worked as a Network Engineer and the Lead Coordinator in charge of Technical Support at Broadband Home Limited (Zipnet & ZipTV). At BBH, he used a variety of tools to manage, monitor, and troubleshoot a wide range of networks, including WAN/IP-VPN and LAN networks, and advised clients accordingly. He also worked as a Network Operating Centre (NOC) Engineer, where he was in charge of monitoring large networks and servers, troubleshooting, and tracking problems until they were resolved.

He is a co-founder of Young Cable Network (YCN), a Nonprofit organization dedicated to mobilizing and engaging all actors in our communities to promote sustainable development, as a result of his passionate and active role in youth empowerment and advocacy. Its primary activities include, among other things, Economic Development Advocacy, Entrepreneurship and Youth Development, training, and capacity building. At YCN, he is the Director of Programs and Research.

Alex is an excellent communicator, mediator, and negotiator. He is currently pursuing an MSc in Development Finance at KNUST, a graduate of the University of Ghana, Legon with BA Economics and Information Studies, a Cisco Certified Networking Associate (CCNA), and a member of the ISOC Ghana Chapter. He has participated in and facilitated a variety of training, conferences, and workshops. He is a devout Christian and a minister of the Gospel.
